Oh, I forgot to mention my 12-string guitar. It isn't acoustic electric. Since I ain't rich instead of a $200 pickup I used a $50 one and it's good enough to play live. When recording in the studio I record all my acoustic parts with a condencer mic. When it comes to recording my electric parts I use my dynamic Shure57.
I recorded albums at others studios for years. But once I got a Fostex seven years ago I recorded an album by myself. Gave myself a crash course via recording forums online learning the best way to position mics, to cover the metalic AC duct in the room I recorded in, etc.

Actually

Thanks for the jog to my memory: my Dad bought me an acoustic guitar when I was in gradeschool. I remember it was damaged (had a whole on the edge of the body). I tried to play but struggled being left handed with a right handed guitar. Tried again in college - someone gave me another acoustic, but it didnt catch on.
Finally after college, one of my roommates was loaned a telecaster. I would play that thing every night after work. I forced myself to learn to play right handed. Now over 20 yrs and several guitars later, I am a decent acoustic guitar player. I play almost every day. I would love to restore and old acoustic - a vintage Martin. Cool idea.

Playing guitar and being in bands has kept me same for most of my life. It also saved me from falling too far into the NG hole. No matter how much my NG tendencies would fuck me up I always refused to give up my music for a woman. It was the one thing I wouldn't let go of for anyone. It also helped my confidence a lot. I was always shitty with women but I could always wail on a guitar.
